- “I grew up in the Greater Boston area and attended medical school at the University of Vermont. What attracted me to the pediatric residency program at Dartmouth was the small class size, location in the Upper Valley, and supportive mentors! I'm excited to explore different fields within pediatrics given the individualized curriculum. In my spare time, I like to paint, cross stitch, read, and run!”

- “Hello everyone! I am thrilled to be joining the Dartmouth Pediatrics team! After growing up in a small town in British Columbia, Canada, I moved across the country to Nova Scotia, where I completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University. While at Dalhousie, I played for the Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team, which, in itself, was a life-changing experience. Following my time in Nova Scotia, I moved even further from home, to Ireland, to complete my medical degree at Trinity College Dublin. While my journey has been incredible thus far, I'm eager to embark on the next chapter of my life in New Hampshire. Despite the interviews being virtual, the faculty and residents emitted kindness, warmth, and a dedication to pediatrics that made a lasting impression on me. I left the interview feeling excited and dreaming of one day becoming a part of this program. Beyond the program's academic excellence, I was drawn to its smaller size, X & Y format, and the close-knit team. I'm looking forward to indulging in all the outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling around the Valley!”

- “Hello everyone! I am absolutely thrilled to begin my pediatric residency at CHaD. I'm looking forward to exploring the natural beauty of the Upper Valley and learning how to ski this year. The area is surrounded by local farms, which makes cooking so much more fun and the food so fresh! What captivated me about CHaD was its intimate program, offering personalized mentorship, extensive research opportunities, the X+Y schedule, advocacy work, and supportive faculty. These factors made choosing CHaD an easy decision, making it the perfect place for me. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, and cooking!”

The welcoming community among the residents and faculty, coupled with the extensive academic opportunities, made Dartmouth an irresistible choice. Although I am from Long Island, the vibrant outdoor activities in the Upper Valley are perfect for my downtime. I love snowboarding and hiking and can’t wait to take full advantage of the outdoor opportunities!”

- “Hello everyone! I am honored and excited to be joining the CHaD community. As I went through the interview season, I wanted to find a place where colleagues enjoyed each other while going through the challenges of residency. On my interview day, I heard repeatedly that, if given the chance to do it over, residents would pick Dartmouth again for their training. From the small program size to the diverse patient population, Dartmouth checked all the boxes. In addition to joining the CHaD community, I am thrilled to be embarking on a new adventure in New Hampshire. Coming from Kansas, with my two big pups in tow, I look forward to immersing myself in the unique culture and landscapes of the Upper Valley.”

- “Ultimately I chose CHaD for 2 big reasons: the small program size and the Upper Valley! I am from the Front Range of Colorado and my interests are very Colorado-esque! Few things on Earth make me happier than snow and I can't wait for all of the snow sports and winter activities in the Upper Valley! My favorites are snowboarding and ice skating/pond hockey. No matter the season, I love hiking and exploring nature, often followed by a visit to a local brewery. I thoroughly enjoyed living in the Berkshires while attending Williams College and I am excited to return to New England. Moreover, I am looking forward to training in a small, tight-knit program! As a learner and a trainee, I think it is vitally important to find a program where you won't fall through the cracks and I am confident I will be well supported at Dartmouth!”

- “Hi! I am so excited to be here and join the CHaD family! I am originally from South Florida but moved up north for college and never looked back! I absolutely love it up here and am excited to explore what New Hampshire and the Upper Valley have to offer! When choosing Dartmouth for residency, I absolutely loved how personable and down to earth the program is! It was important for me to be a part of a small, close-knit program. In my spare time, I like to cook and go on “Moose & Kristin, Kristin & Moose Adventures” with my four-year-old golden retriever. Fun fact about me, I was a D1 bowler in college.”

- “My first experience in New Hampshire was hiking up Mount Lafayette with my husband, who is also a Dartmouth resident, and his parents the summer before my second year of medical school. I soon fell in love with the landscape of this area and the activities the area had to offer year-round. I chose Dartmouth because the size of the program meant I could build meaningful relationships with my co-residents and the faculty. I had amazing experiences rotating here during my fourth year of medical school in terms of the different pathologies I was able to see and help manage, the attendings and residents I met, and the kind people of the area that made me excited to come into the hospital and clinic every day. I am eager to explore my interests here, to grow as a learner, and to begin putting some roots down in the New England area!”

- “It was an easy decision to join ChaD as I am confident I will have excellent academic and clinical experiences here with strong mentorship. Additionally, the individualized curriculum will allow ample opportunities for subspecialty exploration. And, what a wonderful location with which to call home during these next few years. I love being outside, and on my days off you will probably find me on skis in the winter or hiking in the summer”

- “Hello all! My name is Kathleen but I go by my initials KC. I am originally from Connecticut, but have lived in Boston for the past 6 years and my family now lives out in Breckenridge, Colorado. I went to Hamilton College for undergrad where I majored in Chemistry and played on the women’s soccer team. I love all things outdoors, hiking, skiing, camping, to name a few, and I also love spending time in the gym. The first thing that attracted me to Dartmouth was the small size. I have always enjoyed working in environments where we all know each other well and I loved the idea of getting to work with residents, attendings, nurses, etc who knew me as a whole person. This was the sense I got on interview day, even through the screen. It is obvious that the Dartmouth Peds community is just that. The other reason I chose Dartmouth is the Upper Valley. After years in a city I am so excited to be living in nature and have such close proximity to the outdoor activities I love. I can’t wait to have the tough decision of which ski mountain to go to on my day off.”

- “Hello! I am beyond excited to start residency training at CHaD! Originally from Canada, my professional career has been an evolving adventure. I first studied biochemistry at McGill in Montréal. I then moved to Toronto to complete my M.Sc at the Hospital for Sick Children, where the combination of my research and volunteer work lead me to fall in love with pediatrics. Medical School then took me to Ireland where I have loved living in and exploring Europe! I am thrilled that this journey has now brought me to Dartmouth. I am looking forward to being in a smaller program where I can really get to know my co-residents and form personal relationships with senior physician mentors. The program also offers a lot of room to tailor your experience to fit your individualized learning goals and support for pursuing any sub-interests you might have. I also knew the combination of both clinical and academic excellence, including strong research opportunities, would support me in achieving my goals for fellowship and beyond. But most importantly, what stood out to me and helped me ultimately choose this program was the kind, supportive, and welcoming team environment I knew I would be joining. I’m looking forward to exploring the upper valley! Particularly kayaking and getting up in the mountains. I could not imagine a more beautiful place to begin this next chapter!”

I was thankful to have gotten the chance to meet and briefly work with the pediatric team on my month-long away rotation at Dartmouth during 4th year of medical school and was impressed by how inclusive and kind everyone was. The opportunities for learning and growth, size of the program, close-knit community, X+Y curriculum, outdoor adventures, and having family nearby were all the reasons why I chose CHaD!”

- “Hi everyone! I am so excited to be joining the Dartmouth Pediatrics team. It is a dream come true to be here! Although born and raised in Kentucky, I visited the Upper Valley many times throughout the years of medical school to see my significant other who lives in the area. When choosing a residency program, I wanted a program that was a friendly and supportive community of learners and educators where I was seen as a person and not just a name on a list. I also wanted a program with unique opportunities for clinical and academic advancement with research and advocacy projects, X+Y scheduling, and a wide range of diverse pathologies. Dartmouth was the ideal choice for me based on all of these wonderful qualities. Additionally, it is the ideal choice for a location as it is close to my significant other and fulfills my many active hobbies of running, hiking, traveling, and skiing. I am so grateful for the opportunity to become a Pediatric Resident Physician at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth”

- “Hi everyone! One of the main reasons I chose Dartmouth Health Children's was because I was looking for a smaller program at a tertiary medical center. I like having the benefits of a close knit program with opportunities to build relationships and have autonomy and a tertiary medical center which brings diversity of cases and experience. During my interview, the faculty and residents were very kind, inviting, and excited about pediatrics which helped to set this program apart from the rest. The Upper Valley was also a large part of why I chose Dartmouth. I've spent most of my life in Utah near the mountains and I love to be outdoors hiking, biking, or just enjoying the fresh air. I'm excited to spend 3 years in New Hampshire at such a beautiful place with many outdoor activities and at Dartmouth reaping the benefits of such an excellent program.”

- “Well hello there! I’m thrilled to be joining the CHaD family and moving to beautiful New Hampshire! Originally from Montana, college brought me to Boston where I spent several years after school working as an EMT and in cardiology clinical research at Tufts Medical Center. Medical school pulled me back out West to Rocky Vista University in Utah. My journey to pediatrics has been a little more non-traditional than most as I am currently completing a year in general surgery residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Seizing the opportunity for this rewarding career change, I cannot be more excited to begin my training at CHaD. From the wonderful impression on my recruitment day, to the academic excellence with an emphasis on individualized training opportunities, to the stunning mountainous environment of the Upper River Valley, CHaD is the perfect fit for me! I look forward to working closely with my colleagues and building strong relationships with my patients and their families. Fields of particular interest to me are cardiology, critical care, and emergency medicine. Outside of the hospital, you'll likely find me exploring the mountains in all seasons, whether it is hiking, skiing, or paddle boarding. A fun fact - I wear two pairs of socks when I play golf, just in case I get a hole-in-one!”

- “I am looking forward to moving back to my childhood state and starting my training at CHaD! I chose CHaD because of its smaller program size allowing for more one-on-one mentorship, academic opportunities, impressive fellowship matches, and most importantly how I felt during my interview day. The residents and faculty already made me feel so supported and I can’t wait to be a part of CHaD community. In my spare time, I love to go on hikes, golf, and engage in outdoor activities as much as possible with family and friends. I am hoping to learn how to fly-fish! If the weather keeps me indoors, I like to be creative through art, woodworking, or music with my cats (Luna and Simba) by my side.”

- “I’m excited to transfer to CHaD for the next 2 years of my pediatric residency! The community (program leadership, residents, staff) at CHaD has been incredibly welcoming and friendly and I’ve already felt at home at this “fun-size” program. I’m excited to learn about the opportunities and challenges in caring for patients and their families from rural backgrounds. In addition, the Upper Valley is a beautiful, quite peaceful ( and very green!) place that I am excited to explore on my mountain bike and skis! ”

- “Hello! I’m Sheila, originally from Wellesley, MA. As a lifelong northeasterner, I’m excited to stay close to home, but also to live in and explore the fun and beautiful upper valley! In consideration of a residency program, I wanted a small residency that could give me a myriad of educational opportunities and mentorships, all with the hopes of preparing me well for fellowship. I was also looking for a program where my preceptors and colleagues shared similar hobbies and interests— it’s important to know who you’ll be spending all your time with! When not in the hospital, you’ll probably find me on the slopes or in a meadow, basking in the sun after a long run or hike! Other hobbies include but are not limited to pizza making, eating churros, and planning fictional trips to faraway places.”

- “Hello everyone! I am excited to start working at CHaD after their sincere and welcoming interview day made them my obvious first choice. I was so impressed by the program’s numerous opportunities in research, global health, and advocacy. The program’s smaller size will allow me to obtain more hands-on practice as well as help me personalize my training goals to become a neonatologist (although, I’m keeping an open mind, since you never know what life has in store for you)! In my free time, I tend to be more of a homebody who enjoys reading, baking, and puzzles. I will also sew or knit occasionally to de-stress. When I’m up for an adventure, I love to travel and see new places. I have lived in four time zones, three countries, and two different states. That said, I have never been to New England, making me excited to explore this new area.”

- “Hi all! I am very excited to start my pediatric training at CHaD! Although originally from northwestern New Jersey, after spending my college and medical school years in Maine and Massachusetts, I am thrilled to be staying in New England for residency. I was looking for a smaller sized program with a close-knit supportive community where I would receive excellent, well-rounded training; with those characteristics and given the many academic opportunities available, CHaD seemed to be an ideal place to train! In addition, I can’t wait to live near my sister and watch my now almost one-year-old niece grow up! In my free time, I enjoy baking, reading and spending as much time outside as possible hiking or running. I am very excited to be joining the CHaD community and to start exploring the Upper Valley!”

- “Hi everyone! I am so excited to start training to become a pediatrician at CHaD! I am part Turkish and grew up in Istanbul, Turkey, before coming to the US for college. This said, I spent most of my childhood summers visiting my grandmother who used to live right across the New Hampshire-Vermont border in Norwich, Vermont! Some of my fondest childhood memories are of visiting the Montshire Museum of Science, going for breakfast at Lou’s diner in Hanover and attending the Horizons day camp on Lake Fairlee. I am so excited to be returning to the beautiful Upper Valley! I chose CHaD because of the small residency size, familiar location, opportunity for rigorous outpatient training through the X+Y schedule, and the unique experience of training at a tertiary care center located in a rural setting. I was also so impressed by the residents, faculty and Program Director Dr. O’Dea and felt that everyone I met on my interview day was so genuine and excited about being in an academic environment and focusing on pediatrics. Outside the hospital, I look forward to working on fiction writing, continuing to develop my French language skills and learning new pieces on the piano!”
