Health care rounds (meetings) are formal opportunities for the health care team to discuss patient care. They occur daily.
During rounds, the team will review the patient's progress, discuss treatments, and review care planning. These rounds usually happen in the morning, but they can happen other times if there is an urgent clinical need with another patient.
Some health care teams may meet in a patient's room, while sometimes a physician may come to see the patient individually or in a smaller group. If parents or patients prefer to have the team meet outside the room, just let your nurse or physician know.
If parents are not able to meet with the team at rounds, please ask your nurse to arrange a meeting with the doctor. The important thing is for you to feel included in the care planning and to ask any questions you may have.
