Gender Care

A message from the Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Gender Health team

To our patients and their families,

We understand that an executive order signed earlier this week, disallowing gender-affirming healthcare to be provided by medical organizations receiving federal support, has likely caused concern about your child’s healthcare needs. Know that we share your concerns. The order is under review and we continue to process its implications and legal effect. In the meantime, your child’s care and our charitable health care mission has not changed; all scheduled appointments remain unchanged and we are here to support you in any way we can. Until and unless we inform you otherwise, it is important that you know we will continue to provide the same level of care to you and your family. We will continue to be here for you.

We encourage you to call or message with questions, which we will answer to the best of our ability. We encourage you to take breaks from social media and to prioritize self-care. We are also happy to provide additional resources for you upon request.

Important notes about mental health support

We provide health support, but we do not offer ongoing, long-term therapy. Our program requires that you connect with a therapist for mental health support. We can assist you in connecting with a mental health provider in your community.

We know it can be challenging to find therapists at this time. So we strongly recommend that you begin searching for a therapist before your child’s first appointment.
