The 18th annual CHaD HERO takes place Sunday, October 15 on the Dartmouth Green when thousands of real-life superheroes will gather for a fall festival, 1-mile fun run, 5K run and walk, and the region’s most scenic half marathon. This premier community fundraising event has raised $9 million to date for Dartmouth Health Children's and the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (CHaD). At Dartmouth Health Children’s and CHaD, no child is ever turned away, and the community’s support of the HERO helps kids lead their healthiest, happiest lives.
The action-packed HERO festival on the Dartmouth Green will include local food vendors, a Kid Zone featuring face painting, interactive science with VINS, giveaways, and much more. There will also be live entertainment on the main stage and plenty of opportunities to cheer on HERO participants. During this year’s HERO, there will also be a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Dartmouth Health Children’s Intensive Care Nursery (ICN). Participants and spectators can visit the ICN tent at the Dartmouth Green on HERO Day to help celebrate this remarkable milestone.
New this year, each of the 13 miles of the HERO half marathon will honor a Kid HERO who has exemplified courage and resilience in the face of serious health challenges.
