Our clinical programs are designed to improve your child's health and wellness with lifestyle changes and offer treatment for Familial Hyperlipidemia and other lipid disorders.
LiviNHealthy Clinic
The LiviNHealthy Clinic works to improve a child's health and wellness through sustainable changes in eating habits, fitness, self-esteem, and healthy weight. Through the clinic we work to identify and manage underlying causes of obesity as well as obesity-related complications such as diabetes, fatty liver disease, abnormal cholesterol, high blood pressure, and metabolic syndrome.
Our goal is to work closely with you and your children to develop a tailored approach that meets their particular medical issues, health and wellness goals, and lifestyle challenges.
We support a lifestyle modification approach to treatment as advocated by the National Lipid Association, the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Lifestyle modification involves a healthy nutrition and physical activity plan, with intensification of treatment as needed. Additional interventions, including pharmacotherapy, may be recommended to address medical issues.
Our team is positive and encouraging in its approach and recognizes that making changes in your busy life can be challenging.
Lipid Clinic
The goal of our lipid clinic is to diagnose and treat children and families with Familial Hyperlipidemia and other lipid disorders. The program focuses on therapeutic lifestyle modification, structured diet and activity recommendations, and lipid-lowering medications as indicated to create a treatment plan that is appropriate to a child’s diagnosis and family health goals.
What you can expect during your visit
Initial visit and care
An initial visit with our multidisciplinary team includes a comprehensive medical and lifestyle (nutrition and activity) assessment. Laboratory work may be necessary to assess your child's metabolic status. We will work collaboratively with you to create an individualized medical plan that is sustainable. We will coordinate care with your child’s primary care provider.
Ongoing care
We recommend monthly visits with our care team to monitor your child's progress, but each medical plan is individualized to meet your child's—and your family's—unique needs. Our intensive lifestyle program includes group or individual dietitian and health coach visits. Visits are combined with medical management by our physician team.
During our visits we reassess your child’s progress towards his or her health goals. Our team will continue to adjust ongoing treatment in partnership with you and your child. This may include ongoing medical management and lifestyle counseling with our team and/or your child’s primary care physician. We work closely with primary care physicians and your child’s other health care providers to assure that his or her care is coordinated.
We encourage patients to use our free, secure, confidential patient service called myD-H, for updates and guidance from the care team.
