What is integrative health?
Integrative health, also called integrative medicine, uses evidence-based healing methods along with traditional treatments to care for patients. These therapies aid Western medications and surgery. Our pediatric Integrative health team focuses on improving wellness, not just treating illness. It helps families and children take control over their health and well-being.
Integrative medicine for pediatrics
Our mission is to be the first pediatric health system in the country to offer a fully connected integrative care program. We want doctors and care teams at all our locations and specialties to include holistic health as part of their care. This helps make integrative medicine available to all our patients.
Pediatricians and specialists help families choose holistic health options that support traditional treatments. By combining proven treatments from both conventional and alternative medicine, we create a personalized healthcare plan. This plan can help children now, throughout their life, and into adulthood.
Integrative medicine for chronic conditions
Children with chronic conditions may suffer from stress, anxiety, and other symptoms related to their condition. These symptoms are often not fully treated by traditional medicine. They can affect the child’s overall well-being, leading to more health issues. Integrative medicine gives these children more tools to manage these symptoms.
Tools for better health
We use evidence-based integrative medicine, complementary methods, and tools for better health. Some of these methods and tools include:
- Components from whole medical systems like Ayurveda and East Asian medicine
- Diet, food, and nutrition
- Massage and other manual therapies, such as osteopathic manipulation and chiropractic
- Mind-body therapy
- Movement, exercise, and yoga
- Supplements and herbs
- Spirituality
Easing symptoms with holistic strategies
These methods and tools can ease the symptoms of a variety of pediatric challenges, including:
- ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder)
- Anxiety
- Asthma
- Autism
- Cancer
- Cystic fibrosis
- Digestive and gastrointestinal issues
